Jesmond Park and the University Precinct
Brides booking wedding hair and makeup in Jesmond often marry at Jesmond Park on Robinson Avenue, a spacious, treelined ceremony space known for its rose gardens and booked directly through City of Newcastle. Because the park has no vehicle or electrical access, hair and makeup always happens beforehand at your getting-ready address, then it's a short trip to the park itself. Hotel Jesmond, on the corner of Newcastle Road and Blue Gum Road, offers both accommodation and event space if you'd rather keep the whole day in one place.
The University of Newcastle's Callaghan campus next door also opens several of its spaces, including The Great Hall and the Bar on the Hill, for private hire, set across 140 hectares of bushland. I build a personalised timeline once your booking is confirmed, based on your ceremony time, bridal party size and getting-ready location. For a Jesmond wedding that usually means getting ready in a family home, so the whole morning stays relaxed before you head out to your ceremony.
We work through this together at your hair and makeup preview. Getting ready at home tends to bring out a softer, more natural preference in a lot of my Jesmond brides, but the final look is always built around what makes you feel most like yourself.
For hair and makeup together, I style up to three people entirely by myself, four to seven with one additional talented stylist at no extra cost, and eight to ten with two additional talented stylists, so every bridesmaid and mother receives the same considered finish. For hair only or makeup only, I can personally style up to six people, since each service takes roughly half the time.
Yes, Jesmond is one of the areas I work in most. Since Jesmond Park has no vehicle or electrical access, I always come to your home or getting-ready address beforehand, then it's just a short trip to the park for your ceremony. Travel across Newcastle, including Jesmond, is included in your booking.
